Thai PM YIngluck To Visit India Jan 24-26, 2012

Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra will have an official visit to India during January 24-26, 2012.

India will host the Thai Prime Minister as the chief guest on Republic January 26 Day and hosts its first India-ASEAN summit that will telescope New Delhi's multi-faceted ties with the region.

India is putting its Look East policy on a higher trajectory against the backdrop of China actively getting involved in the region.

Former Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva visited India in April 2011, having discussions with the Indian government and parties involved in matters that cover the bilateral and multi-lateral fronts. Both countries aim to support the cooperation and expect the trade value between the two to double by 2014 from $6.7 billion in 2010.
