Over 100 audiences who participated in the Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2013 attended the seminar “Thailand: Unparalleled Opportunities” organized by the Board of Investment of Thailand (BOI) on the sideline of the Summit on 12 January 2013.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Pisan Manawapat, Thai Ambassador to India, told the audience that 2012 has been a golden year of Indo-Thai relations which has seen exchange of visits and the breakthrough of 1 million Indian travelers to Thailand.
In terms of economic potentials, Thailand is not only a popular tourism destination but also ranked as top heavy industrial producers of hard-disk drives, natural rubber and eco-cars. Proven by high economic performance in various areas and top ratings by international economic critics, Thailand is emerging as a powerhouse of Southeast Asia.
In 2013, the current Government will push forward key infrastructure and water management projects. The Dewai special economic zone in Myanmar will also be supported by the Government and foreign investors are invited for various investment projects.
Following Ambassador’s remarks, Ms. Vasana Mututanont, Deputy Secretary-General of BOI gave presentation of the overall economic performance of Thailand. Two top Thai businessmen, Dr. Anusorn Muttaraid, Chaiman of Thai-India Business Council and director of Delta Electronics, and Mr. Viroj Sirithanasart, President of Thai Tool and Die Industry, also shared their companies’ experience in doing business with Indians and business prospects in Thailand and ASEAN.
Among business potentials and opportunities Thailand offers to businessmen though various FTAs and as a business hub of ASEAN, the Government is offering various privileges to foreign businesses and investors. BOI also offers different kinds of service to make a start of business in Thailand most convenient.
