Ambassador Pisan Manawapt, Mr. Nat Pinyowattancheep, Thai Consul General in Mumbai , Mr. Adul Chotinisakorn, Executive Director of Thai Trade Center Mumbai along with Thai Embassy's officials visited Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh on 6 July 2013 to explore business opportunities for the Thai private sector.
Thai Ambassador and his team received a warm welcome from Smt. Sneh Lata Kumar, Resident Commissioner of Government of M.P. in New Delhi, Shri P.K. Dash, Additional Chief Secretary as well as friends from private sectors.
Doing lots of homework about Thailand's economic background, Shri P.K. Dash and his team from Trade and Investment Facilitation Corporation Ltd. – TRIFAC impressively briefed the Thai side on business opportunities in Madhya Pradesh.(Click here for presentation)
Noteworthy, there are four mains sectors namely fishery & agro business, real estate & housing, toll road & mega project construction, and tourism which could possibly be a great potential for expansion of Thai business presence in the state.
Moreover, the unbeatable investment climate of M.P. such as stable government, enabling infrastructure, cooperative labor union and 20,000 hectare industrial zone were also convincingly presented to the Thai Ambassador's team.
In addition, the Government of M.P. also invited Thailand to be a partner country for the "Global Investor Summit 2014' which will be held in Bhopal during 7-8 October 2014. The official communication will be forwarded to the Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi at the earliest notice.
The M.P. Government also took this opportunity to proactively propose the Thai side for the further collaboration on 1) MOU between BOI and TRIFAC 2) Tripartite MOU for Automotive Industry and 3) MOU on agricultural cooperation. Consul General Nat and Director Adul, who are directly responsible for M.P. area, promptly showed their readiness to work closely with M.P. Government on the said proposals.
Ambassador Pisan further informed M.P. representatives that in the morning he had a wonderful chance to experience the magnificent Sanchi Buddhist Stupa, one of the UNESCO world heritages in M.P. and expressed his willingness to be an unpaid advocate for the Government of M.P. to promote Sanchi among the Thai Buddhist pilgrims.
This visit was very productive and informative. The Thai side envisaged a lot of business opportunities existing in M.P. and looked forward to working closely with the M.P. Government in the years to come.
