The Royal Thai Embassy supported the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and the Thai Airways International in collaborating with the Caddies Welfare Trust (CWT) and the Delhi Golf Club, the elite golf club in the heart of New Delhi, to raise funds for the welfare of caddies by presenting the exotic and authentic Thainess.
September 7th started off early with a charity golf tournament. Later in the day, members of the club and their family were invited to attend the lavish Gala charity evening. Over 500 guests turned up in the lawn decorated with Thai elements.
The special evening was marked by the announcements of prizes for the morning golf tournament, lucky draws of guest's tickets for the gala evening, and authentic Thai cuisine by Thai chefs from the Spice Route at the Imperial New Delhi and the 19 Oriental Avenue at Shangri-La Eros Hotel. Thai Ambassador, the chief guest of the evening, also brought along his own kitchen and Thai Office of Defense Attaché to serve authentic Thai foods and exotic Thai fruits.
The charity golf tournament and Thai evening was aimed to raise supporting funds for medical care and services such as eye and dental camps, health insurance, and financial support for well-being of caddies.
The CWT was founded in August 2011 by a group of like-minded golfers. The scope of charity covers caddies in all clubs across India. It is currently chaired by Mr. Siddharth Shriram.
