GCCs to create 4.5 lakh jobs this year (Financial Chronicle)
India’s Global Capability Centres (GCCs) are set to generate 4.25–4.5 lakh new jobs in 2024 and 10 lakh by 2030, with 35% of companies planning a 50–100% workforce expansion, positioning India as the top destination due to its skilled talent pool and supportive policies. The number of GCCs is projected to surpass 2,100 by 2030, employing 33 lakh professionals and contributing to a $100 billion market, with hiring surging in sectors like financial services (79%), engineering and manufacturing (69%), and HR (68%). Additionally, 61% of GCCs expect over a 50% increase in women hires by 2030, and the FY26 national framework is expected to drive further growth, especially in tier-II and III cities.
India to ban DeepSeek, Al tools in govt offices (Financial Chronicle)
India has joined countries like Taiwan, Australia, and the US in banning AI tools such as DeepSeek R1 and ChatGPT in government offices, starting with the Ministry of Finance, due to concerns over data security and potential leakage of confidential documents. The ban, approved by Finance Secretary Tuhin Kanta Pandey on January 29, applies to all departments within the ministry and is expected to extend to all government offices nationwide. This move aligns with global scrutiny of Chinese AI technologies, as nations like Australia and Italy have imposed similar restrictions, while regulators in South Korea, Ireland, and France are investigating DeepSeek’s data storage practices in China.
