An exclusive networking event to strengthen Thai-Indian relations
New Delhi, November, 2012 – The Royal Thai Embassy and Lotus Arts de Vivre, one of Asia’s leading designers of luxury handmade jewellery, objects d’art and home décor items; are collaborating with designer Bina Modi, to foster stronger Thai-Indian relations by curating a creative journey through contemporary Thai arts and culture. Our partners include Minor Residence (Thailand’s leading developer of high end villas), Tourism Authority of Thailand, VFS Global, Thai Airways, Dusit Devarana, and Lebua New Delhi.
Targeting an exclusive guest list of high net worth individuals and movers and shakers from the upper echelons of both Thai and Indian society, “A Night of Silk and Jewels” will be held at the Ambassador’s Residence at the Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi, India on Wednesday 28 November, 2012.
The event is being held in celebration of the 80th Birthday Anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit of Thailand, whose patronage and dedication to preserve the Thai silk industry has revived the otherwise disappearing art of Thai hand-woven textiles. A Night of Silk and Jewels will feature a fashion show of Thai silks made by artisans under her Majesty the Queen’s Sirikit Institute and jewellery from Lotus Arts de Vivre.
India’s prominent fashion designer Bina Modi, whose work has preserved the traditional “Gara” and “Chikan” embroidery techniques, will create a contemporary Indian-Western luxury collection using Thai silk exclusively for the evening.
“A Night of Silk and Jewels” will also be an exclusive networking platform to enable business and cultural leaders from both nations to connect at an informal social evening which will be set against a stunning backdrop of arts, fashion and fine cuisine from Thailand. Falling on 28 November, guests will also enjoy the celebration of Loi Krathong, Thailand’s annual festival of light.
Speaking on the Occasion, The Ambassador of Thailand, Mr. Pisan Manawapat, “I fully support this initiative and look forward to a great night of Thailand and India coming together to celebrate our common traditions in honour of Her Majesty the Queen of Thailand. It is only fitting that the theme of the evening will display how Her Majesty’s work in preserving Thai arts and crafts has translated into the innovation of Thai artisanship. Thai hand-made objects d’arts are making their mark as the ultimate luxurious collectible items around the world. I hope to present Thailand as the image of luxury in Asia and use this event to cultivate and deepen our ties with India.”
Lotus Arts de Vivre Founder and Chairman, Mr Rolf von Bueren, said: “Lotus Art de Vivre is proud to be involved in curating the first event of its kind to be held at the Thai Ambassador’s Residence in New Delhi. Both Thailand and India have such wonderful cultural and artistic traditions, as well as a history of interaction and exchange that goes back hundreds if not thousands of years, that it seems fitting to create an immersive experience which celebrates the best of contemporary Thai culture as a means to further strengthen these ties of friendship.”
“Our key aim is to create a beautiful experience which people attending a Night of Silk and Jewels will never forget,” said Mr von Bueren.
