NEW DELHI, September 21 – FINANCIAL EXPRESS – Parle Agro, the famous Indian FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) company has decided to make its foray into international markets like Dubai, Thailand, Malaysia and Africa. This step has been decided to overcome the increasing competition from both the domestic as well as international competitors. The company plans to market its select brands mango juice Frooti, mineral water Bailley, apple juice Appy and snacks under the Hippo brand in these markets. Parle Agro also intends to make country specific brands for these markets. - FINANCIAL EXPRESS – The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has lowered its global growth forecast yet again to 4% in 2011 and 2012, much below the 5.1% growth achieved in 2010. In emerging and developing economies like BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India and China) capacity constraints, policy tightening and slowing foreign demand are expected to dampen growth from 7.3% in 2010 to 6.1% in 2012. - FINANCIAL EXPRESS – At a meeting organised by the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy, the chief economic advisor in the finance ministry, Kaushik Basu, said that any more increment in the interest rates by the Reserve Bank of India would not result in curbing the inflation, in fact, he said that lowering the interest rates could possibly have an positive impact on increasing inflation. He tried to justify his comment on the basis of reminding the case of Turkey, where exactly happened that by lowering the interest rates inflation was controlled. – ECONOMIC TIMES - Ssangyong Motor Co, part of the Mahindra & Mahindra Group, have decided to expand its vehicle sales and revenue by a third in 2013 by launching three new platforms and four new products. In 2010, M&M acquired Ssangyong, for $464 million, giving an opportunity to the Indian utility vehicle makers to access advanced technologies and able to make foray into overseas markets. – THE HINDU – To talk on bilateral trade and strategic economic cooperation between India and Pakistan, commerce ministers of both the countries are going to have a meeting on September 25 in India.
