NEW DELHI, December 30 – FINANCIAL EXPRESS – According to a bank in Saudi Arabia, The economies of Gulf hydrocarbon producers are projected to grow by nearly 7 per cent in 2011, but growth could tumble to nearly half that rate next year because of an expected decline in crude prices and production in the region. The Saudi American Bank Group (Samba) said in a study that Average oil prices could dip to nearly USD 100 a barrel in 2012 from around USD 110 in 2011, while crude output of the six-nation Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is expected to shrink to around 15.68 million barrels per day from about 15.91 million bpd. The GCC region comprises Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman. – FINANCIAL EXPRESS – Aditya Birla Group, the USD 35 billion multinational corporation, has revealed its plan to invest USD 500 million over the next five years to set up a Viscose Staple Fibre plant in Turkey's Adana Organised Industrial Zone. Aditya Birla Group's Pulp & Fibre operations span six countries -- Canada, Sweden, Thailand, Indonesia, China and India. The Group is on an ambitious expansion trajectory and is ramping up capacities in other parts of the world as well. – FINANCIAL EXPRESS – The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) suggested that the government allow foreign players to pick up a stake in domestic carriers in order to revive the cash-starved Indian aviation industry. The Industry Ministry has floated a draft Cabinet note proposing to allow foreign carriers to buy a 26 per cent stake in Indian private airlines. – ECONOMIC TIMES – Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda has assured Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to provide all possible assistance in facilitating market linkages to the state agricultural produce by developing infrastructure and logistical support required for the purpose. The CM also participated in the dinner hosted by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for the visiting dignitary.
