Thailand’s consumer confidence in August fell for the first time in four months due to the impact of flood in several areas and uncertainties of the impact of the global economy on the local economy, according to a survey by a local Thai agency.
The August Index slipped to 83.4 points from 84.1 points in July and 81.7 points in June, according to a survey by the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC).
Although the government has helped reduced the cost of living by trimming domestic fuel prices, consumers are still uncertain about global economic fluctuations and the government’s minimum wage scheme, the agency said.
