Gandhinagar, Gujarat – 29 September 2012: Thai Ambassador Pisan Manawapat called on Shri Narendra Modi, Gujarat’s Chief Minister, for the second time this year and made good his promise to bring a business delegation to Gujarat to learn about business opportunities in the state.
The Thai business delegation consisted of 47 members from 23 companies. Accompanied by executives from Thai Airways International (India), Charoen Pokphand (India), Italian-Thai Development (ITD), Pruksa Housing (India) and Thai medium-small sized enterprises, the Thai Ambassador told Chief Minister Modi that Thai companies have had a successful three-day survey visit to Gujarat, and were seriously interested in investing and doing business there.
The delegation also held meetings with local government officials and high-level members of the Gujarat Chapter of Confederation of Indian Industries (CII). They paid visits to industrial estates, factories, and development projects in and around Ahmedabad.
Business cooperation discussed during the meeting with the Chief Minister included the possibility of starting direct flights from Thailand to Gujarat, investment in poultry farming business, construction of large-scale infrastructure projects, investment in middle-income housing estates, and interest by a Thai engineering firm to supply energy-saving solution for light bulbs used in public buildings, grounds, and roads (click here for more information).
Chief Minister Modi also welcomed the Federation of Thai Industries’ proposal to construct a Thai national pavilion at the Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2013 and said that it would be a good idea to have a competition for the best national pavilion and the said event.
