The state shares international borders with Bangladesh, Burma & the Kingdom of Bhutan. Assam is India’s gateway to the Northeast & acts as a vital link for trade with Southeast Asian countries. It is well connected by rail, road, ports & airports. Assam is becoming an increasingly popular destination for wildlife tourism. Kaziranga National Park & Manas National Park are registered as world-heritage sites. At current prices, the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) of Assam was Rs 3.74 trillion (US$ 53.51 billion) in 2019-20. It is estimated to have reached Rs 2.48 trillion (US$ 40.1 billion) in 2017-18. The GSDP of the state grew at a CAGR (in Rs) of 12.75 per cent from 2011-12 to 2019-20. According to the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), cumulative FDI inflows in North-Eastern states during April 2000-June 2019 stood at US$ 122 million.
